Phobias
Free yourself from fear – gently, safely, and in your own time
Phobias can feel overwhelming, and often, they don’t make logical sense.
You might know the thing you’re scared of isn’t dangerous, but your body still reacts like it is. Whether it’s flying, spiders, needles, driving, or something more unusual, that fear can end up dictating your choices, your movements, and even your relationships.
At Amanda Graham Hypnotherapy, I work with you to ease the grip of phobias in a calm, non-judgemental way. This isn’t about “facing your fears” the hard way – it’s about gently changing how your mind and body respond to whatever’s been holding you back.
You don’t have to push yourself into panic. There’s another way.

Understanding phobias.
Phobias are deeply rooted responses. They often form as a result of past experiences, learned behaviours, or even just one intense emotional moment.
Over time, the brain creates a shortcut – “this is scary, avoid it” – and that response becomes automatic.
You might experience:
• Racing heart, breathlessness, or panic attacks
• Feeling sick or frozen at the thought of the trigger
• Avoidance behaviours that impact daily life
• Embarrassment or frustration about your reaction
And yet, with the right support, these responses can change.

HOW HYPNOTHERAPY CAN HELP WITH PHOBIAS
Hypnotherapy allows us to work directly with the subconscious – the part of the mind that stores that automatic fear response. Through guided relaxation and carefully chosen techniques, we can begin to reduce the intensity of the reaction, reframe the trigger, and help you feel more in control.
Sessions are always calm and respectful of your boundaries. There’s no exposure therapy, and you’ll never be asked to confront your phobia unless you’re truly ready to.
We’ll work on:
• Reducing anxiety around the feared object or situation
• Rewriting your brain’s response to the trigger
• Building calm and confidence in real-world scenarios
• Releasing emotional links to the original fear
• Visualising success in handling the situation calmly
Common phobias I help with.
People often seek hypnotherapy for:
• Fear of flying
• Fear of needles or medical procedures
• Fear of spiders or animals
• Fear of driving or motorways
• Fear of sickness (emetophobia)
• Claustrophobia
• Social or performance-related fears
But phobias can be about anything. If it’s holding you back, it’s valid – and it’s worth addressing.

What to expect.
Sessions are private, compassionate, and tailored to your pace.
We’ll talk about your experience, understand where the fear might have come from, and then gently begin the process of change using safe, proven hypnotherapy methods.
Most clients report feeling calmer, more in control, and more confident after just a few sessions. The goal isn’t to erase fear – it’s to put you back in charge of it.
